family to get back to twork mework to meet the loo deadline. mike is at the white house. let's start with you. the consensus around the hill is that we are more likely than not to go over the fiscal cliff, but there is a small chance harry reid could take a house pass bill and amend it and send it back over to the house. what are you hear being that? >> conceivably, but when the president lights upon the south lawn and the marine one later this morning, it's unclear why he is coming back and who will be here with him. as you mentioned, speaker boehner remains in ohio where he is from. he is not coming back to washington. neither is the house of representatives. they simply said it's up to harry reid in the senate. is he preparing a bill? there was a lot of talk of small ball. a bill to allow taxes to go up on everybody or at least couples that make more than $250,000 a year. $200,000 with single filers. harry reid said he is not going to prepare a bill unless mitch mcconnell allows it to come for a vote for a simple majority. they are seeking assurances that he won't try to block it.

killed. 43 year old mike chiapperini who also served as the town's police department public information officer. and 19-year-old tomas kachoofka. kachoofka and chiapperini's son were best friends. >> people get up in the middle of the night to put out fires they do not expect to be shot at. >> two other firefighters who were shot are expected to recover. police say before dawn.the suspect, william spengler set a house and car on fire to lure the firefighters. as soon as they arrived, police say he started shooting. while police were looking for the shooter.the fire spread.engulfing 7 homes. the suspect was eventually found dead near the fire scene.after apparently shooting himself. and he was not even allowed to have a gun. spangler is a convicted felon.he was convicted of beating his 92-year-old grandmother to death with a hammer back in 19-80. spangler served 17 years - and police say it's unclear what his motive was for today's shooting. the town of webster, new york is now mourning. the joy of christmas replaced by pain and grief. >> very difficult... been annulled they are going to

rounds towards the unsuspecting first responders. two were killed. 43 year old mike chiapperini who also served as the town's police department public information officer. and 19- year-old tomas kachoofka. kachoofka and chiapperini's two other firefighters who were shot are expected to recover. police say before dawn.the suspect, william spengler set a house and car on fire to lure the firefighters. as soon as they arrived, police say he started shooting. while police were looking for the shooter.the fire spread.engulfing 7 homes. the suspect was eventually found dead near the fire scene.after apparently shooting himself. and he was not even allowed to have a gun. spangler is a convicted felon.he was convicted of beating his 92-year-old grandmother to death with a hammer back in 19-80. spangler served 17 years - and police say it's unclear what his motive was for today's shooting. the town of webster, new york is now mourning. the joy of christmas>> very difficult... sot resident - it's just devastating. the suspect's home was one of the ones that burned. his sister lived with him.and is
